Project description | The railway industry is transnational and one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and needs a workforce capable of: mastering new technologies, ensuring and facilitating the effective implementation of innovation, and handling the complexity of the railway system with ease in the age of digitalisation. To build and retain a workforce that responds adequately to new technological developments, innovation, broader economic changes and the complexities of local markets, the creation, promotion and application of knowledge must be ensured through multinational/cultural/sectoral joint ventures to liaise, promote innovation, facilitate implementation and ensure the fullest open exchange of good/best practice at all levels of management: operational, tactical and strategic. The main objective of the ASTONRail strategic partnership is to develop a portfolio (toolkit) of innovative methods, approaches and professional practices for railway skills development and, as a result, improve and modernise the current railway higher education offer in Europe. The most relevant horizontal and sectoral priority to be addressed by the ASTONRail strategic partnership is to address the gaps and mismatches between industry requirements and expectations and the current higher education offer for the development of railway knowledge and skills. |
